Natures Crops International Receives GMP+ International Certification for Ahiflower® Oil

Natures Crops International (NCI) is pleased to announce GMP+ International B2 Scheme certification for its multi-omega ingredient, Ahiflower® oil. NCI is the exclusive global supplier of Ahiflower oil for humans and companion animals. GMP+ International is one of the most extensively recognized supply chain integrity assurance bodies in the world. This certification will open equine, canine, and other companion animal supplement and nutrition markets globally where GMP+ certification is required, including in the UK.

GMP+ International is a private international non-profit organization that owns and manages a feed certification scheme for Feed Safety Assurance (GMP+ FSA) and Feed Responsibility Assurance (GMP+ FRA). The GMP+ Feed Certification (FC) scheme facilitates feed companies to (responsibly) produce and deliver safe feed. It covers the whole feed chain, including activities like storage, transport, and laboratory analyses. Many international animal feed and supplement companies have adopted GMP+ certification as a basic risk mitigation requirement in commerce. Ahiflower oil’s exclusive equine supplement distributor in the EU is Pavo (www.pavo.net) a division of ForFarmers N.V. (https://www.forfarmersgroup.eu/en/)

Recognizing NCI’s GMP+ certification, Greg Cumberford (VP of Science & Regulatory) said, “This latest confirmation of Ahiflower’s ‘soil to oil’ supply chain safety for horses, dogs, and companion animals builds on existing FEMAS (UK) and ISO 22000 certifications. We take pride in assuring Ahiflower oil’s purity, quality, and supply chain integrity – for animals and their humans. As a long-time horse and dog owner whose family and animals have benefited greatly from Ahiflower oil’s unique plant-based, omega-balancing effects, I’m excited to see many more animals around the world gain access to Ahiflower oil’s overall wellness benefits.”

GMP+ International has established a governance model that guarantees consistency, independency, responsibility and transparency among the GMP+ community. Feed safety not only ensures the safety of consumers but also reduces disruptions in the food supply chain. To protect against any potential feed safety risks, it is important to know that any animal feed materials purchased meet all the rules and regulations set by the industry or governing bodies.

The Ahiflower crop is regeneratively grown by independently qualified farmers to ensure purity and traceability. NCI’s recent B-Corp certification affirms Ahiflower oil’s eco-friendly status — unique so far among omega-3 ingredient suppliers. The oil is uniquely rich in omega-3 stearidonic acid (SDA) and omega-6 gamma linolenic acid (GLA), supporting heart, brain, skin, joint, and immune health which translate to respiratory, mobility, and coat health support in animals.
