Plant-Based Omegas: Regenerating Health, Regenerating the Planet with Adam Metherel

Dr. Metherel completed his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in the Kinesiology department at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Ken Stark in 2012, where he focused his studies on the development of a rapid dried blood spot method for determining omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid status. He then completed a Mitacs Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship with Certo Labs Inc., and another in Dr. Richard Bazinet’s lab at the University of Toronto. Dr. Metherel joined the U of T’s Department of Nutritional Sciences as an Assistant Professor in 2021 where he leads a translational research program focusing primarily on the role of sex, genetics and dietary fatty acids on omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid synthesis and metabolism.
